How to complete the DUTCH Complete Hormone Test
Please read through the test kit instructions carefully. Amanda will give you a step by step set of instructions which she has compiled to try to make the testing schedule clear – so either use this, or the one included with the kit. A few key points to note are:
For women, the DUTCH Complete hormone test is meant to be completed between days 19-22 of a typical 28 day menstrual cycle, but this can be adjusted for longer or shorter cycles. Men and post-menopausal women can complete the test on any day of the month.
Please avoid taking all supplements for a minimum of 3 days, but preferably a week before testing.
Avoid eating avocado, banana and fava beans (broad beans) for 48 hours before testing
24 hours prior to testing, limit fluid intake to around 1 litre across the day, with no more than 250ml after 8pm the night before completing morning samples numbers 3 and 4.
The test kit contains 4 urine collection devices that need to be completed at specific times of the day and one optional collection card that can be completed if you wake in the night.
You can either urinate directly onto the filter paper part of the collection device or urinate into a clean container and dip the filter paper into it. The filter paper needs to be fully saturated and the collection cards need to be left open for at least 24 hours to completely dry.
Please use the pre-paid courier bag and drop the samples on a Monday or Tuesday at your nearest NZ Post Shop or depot which can be found here https://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/find-nz-post
Make sure you return the completed test requisition form, along with the dried urine samples. The samples are stable, so if you test mid-week, they can be completed, completely dried and then kept frozen, until ready to be couriered on a Monday or Tuesday.
Ignore the 'Pre 8am' sticker on the courier bag, which is just for the courier's attention. There is no need to be concerned about the courier company refrigerating or freezing the samples while in transit.
